(...) gical as well as physical. But they stand, often in their loneliness, against it all. These are the thoughts that crossed my mind when I saw this woman from behind near the Black Sea in Samsun. I thought about my mother and the Turkish women who, hidden behind the dictates of society and stifled by patriarchy, stand proudly.”
