“When Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy made this ‘great journey’ to Cambodia, in 1967, with her then-rumored boyfriend, Lord Harlech, any pictures were in high demand. This negative itself
(...) undertook a ‘great journey;’ Philip’s negatives were sent to the United States via Europe, unlike everyone else’s, whose were sent via the Pacific. There was a huge storm in the Pacific, and shipments were delayed, ensuring that newspapers and magazines initially only had Philip’s images to choose from. This image was featured on the cover of Paris Match and helped to fund Philip’s seminal book, Vietnam Inc. (Collier, 1971), a great journey in itself.”
