“This image is from a photo series on a community called Daleside, where my mother worked when I was a chi
(...) ld. Photography was an excuse to enter into a world that I had unresolved childhood curiosity about, a world I was excluded from. And —as I realized when I returned as an adult and a photographer— a world that I did not really know. The lives lived in Daleside were not so different from the lives lived in my own community in terms of social systems, and I could relate to a certain extent, but I kept being reminded that I didn't belong, that I was an outsider. This was a new experience for me.”
