“Every photojournalistic story of mine has been a great journey, no matter where on earth it took me. My work with the United Farm Workers union
(...) during the California Grape Strike was not far from home, but the fields where the pickers lived and worked was a world apart from my own. As I photographed the people there I tried to empathize with them, to immerse myself in their daily lives so that I could genuinely tell their stories."
