New York: Four Decades of History
New York City icons through the lens of Magnum photographer Inge Morath
Inge Morath’s artistic photographs of New York span four decades. Her first visit dates back to 1957, when she accompanied Magnum photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson on a journey through America and in 1960, she worked as a set photographer during the shooting of the legendary film’ The Misfits’, starring Marilyn Monroe.
In the decades to follow, the fascinating metropolis of New York City remained one of the focal points of Inge Morath’s creative work including the 50th anniversary of the Magnum Photo Agency, which marked a special occasion for her to shoot numerous new photographs of the city between 1997 and 1999.
