Micha Bar-Am: Sea Shore
Iconic images of people whose lives are intrinsically connected to life by the sea
Israeli journalistic photographer Micha Bar-Am’s seashore photography is a body of work that spans almost five decades. From 1957 to 2004, Bar-Am has captured photographs of historical events, studies of workers and the pleasures of living by the sea. From couples on the beach in Greece, to scarred Israeli seamen in Haifa Port, Bar-Am captures the raw immediacy of ocean life.
Bar Am established the Photography Department of Tel Aviv Museum of Art and was awarded the Israel Prize for Art in 2000. His seashore photos were exhibited at the National Maritime Museum between December 2015 and April 2016.
