Jerome Sessini’s photographic career began in 1998 in Paris, when Gamma photo agency gave him the opportunity to cover the ongoing conflict in Kosovo. Since then he has covered many major, momentous international events: working in Palestine, Iraq (from 2003 to 2008), covering Aristide’s fall in Haiti (2004), the conquest of Mogadishu by the Islamic militias and the war in Lebanon (2006).
Sessini is one the world’s most prolific and respected names working in the sensitive field of conflict zones. As well as reporting on the frontlines, he has covered social issues such as the drug-related violence on the streets of Mexico, the anti-government protests in Ukraine, indigenous minorities in Cambodia facing forced eviction and most recently the opioid crisis in the United States. Sessini become Magnum Photos nominee in 2012 and a full member in 2016.
