Katherine Hepburn starred alongside Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift, in Suddenly, Last Summer. Filmed between May and September of 1959, Hepburn played cruel Violet Venable, who wishes to coerce surgeon, Dr. John Cukrowicz (Clift), into lobotomizing her niece. The film was an adaptation of the Tennessee Williams play. Her performance received mixed reviews, but Hepburn’s talent was not diminished; she would go on to receive three Oscars in addition to her first for Best Actress in the 1939 film, Morning Glory.
