For Book Lovers

The photobook is seen by many as the ideal format for viewing, as well as understanding, a photographic project. Unsurprisingly then, the photobook has been a hugely important vehicle for publishing Magnum photographers’ work over the decades. From brand new bodies of work, like Sohrab Hura’s Look It’s Getting Sunny Outside! to republished classics such as Alec Soth’s Niagara, or original copies of Bruce Gilden‘s Coney Island, the Magnum Shop presents an opportunity to buy some of the best-loved photobooks of all time, many signed by the photographers who made them.

Rare Finds

For the collector or expert, rare and difficult-to-find items make for memorable gifts. The Magnum Shop has sourced out-of-print titles, as well as limited runs of original print products – including a special edition of Jonas Bendiksen’s The Last Testament which comes with a limited edition print – and autographed seminal works like Thomas Hoepker’s book on Mohammad AliChamp.

As well as books, the collection of rarities features Magnum Distro print sets, which hark back to the analogue era of photo editing. These distros have been created for select stories by Magnum photographers from Bruce Gilden and Paolo Pellegrin to Matt Black and Christopher Anderson.

Exclusive to Magnum

Many items on the shop are only available via Magnum. Contact sheets, by setting famous images in their immediate context, can provide insight into a photographer’s working and editing process. Contact sheet prints featuring some of Magnum’s best-known work, from Martin Parr’s Bad Weather series to Elliott Erwitt’s much loved Chihuahua, are available for purchase exclusively via the Magnum Shop. Other special items include Magnum posters, signed multi-photographer books, and special project products like Magnum’s Postcards from America boxset.

For the print collector

Much of Magnum’s storied archive of images is available for purchase in the form of collectors prints. All of our fine prints are verified, and stamped or signed by the respective photographer or their Estates. Carefully curated collections of prints made available on the Magnum Shop this year include fine and platinum prints released to mark Elliott Erwitt’s 90th birthday; and a selection of images relating to Life by the Sea– a series of articles exploring society at leisure and the pursuit of pleasure on the coast. In addition, Philip Jones Griffiths: In image and text explores the breadth of the photographer’s career ten years on from his death.

You can see all available fine prints here.
