Magnum Photographers
What makes a photograph iconic? For Magnum, it is the stand out image in a narrative, a picture that encapsulates a historic moment, or an arresting composition that transcends its subject matter. Cartier-Bresson coined the phrase “The Decisive Moment” to illustrate that magical moment when elements combine: the right person, the right place, the right time.
Reproduced many times in magazines, books or exhibitions, the following is a curated selection of some of the most well-known photographs in Magnum’s archive. Both historic and contemporary, these are the images about which our print sales team is always asked.
