Diana Markosian Wins a First Prize in World Press Photo Contest

Diana Markosian’s image from her project ‘Cubanitas’, which explores the coming of age of young women in Cuba, took first prize in the World Press Photo Contest’s contemporary issues, single image category.

Diana Markosian on the BBC

Diana Markosian was also featured on BBC Culture’s Through the Lens video series this week. The photographer discusses her work ‘Inventing My Father’. The project saw Markosian return to Armenia to find her father, whom she had last seen at seven years old, when she and the rest of her family moved to California.

Carolyn Drake photographs England’s footpaths for Airbnb Magazine

Carolyn Drake travelled to England to photograph some of the 91,000 miles of public footpaths in the country for Airbnb Magazine. Britain’s network of footways lead walkers through myriad points of natural beauty, historical interest, and – as Drake and the author found out – to more than a few pubs. Alex Majoli’s ‘Scene’ on Arte

Alex Majoli discusses his new book, Scene, in a short film for Arte. The book, which explores the liminal zone between art and reportage was published by Mack Books in March. The project, made over eight years, plays upon peoples’ inherent proclivity for performance.
