Emin Özmen photographs Turkey’s threatened intellectuals
Ankara University’s faculty of political science has, in the words of the New York Times, ‘Dominated the education of Turkey’s ruling class’ for more than a century. Now, the Erdogan regime has set to dismantling it, one intellectual at a time. Turkish photographer Emin Özmen has made a series of portraits of the faculty members purged from office. You can see the photographs, and read the feature on The New York Times’ site, here.

The French photographer’s ongoing coverage of the herculean effort to save the site has previously been published in L’OBS. You can see that feature here, and you can also see his recent work on renewed excavation and restoration projects – in Pompeii – on Magnum here.

You can see a selection of the images on Huck, here. A wider selection will be available on Magnum’s site on Monday 5 August, along with a text by Rio Branco.
