Magnum amongst most popular photography shows
The Art Newspaper has published rankings of the top arts exhibitions of the past year, and Magnum photographers feature twice in the top ten of the photography category. Susan Meiselas’s blockbuster retrospective at SFMoMA came second with a total 283,154 attendees, and Paul Fusco’s ‘The Train: RFK’s Last Journey’, also at SFMoMA, featured in eighth place with 212, 194 attendees. Collecting Magnum Prints
The Times shone a light on the world of collecting fine photographic prints, referencing Magnum’s place in the growing sector. Shlomi Rabi, the head of photographs at Christie’s New York, tells the paper: “For more than 70 years, Magnum photographers have been taking images that are seared into our collective social consciousness. From Steve McCurry’s famous Afghan Girl, 1984, to Cartier-Bresson’s Rue Mouffetard, Paris, 1952, these images resonate with collectors.
